On Sunday, August 13 , 2017, several members, family and friends attended a pumper dedication for Fire Chief Milton Thompson.
Milton was an important addition to this department. The story is told that he was taken on his first fire call by his father, ” Hank”
when he was approximately 3 or 4 years of age. He has been a part of this department for most of those years until his untimely death.
Chief Thompson was also a Federal Career Firefighter at Ft. Myer Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief.
Milton has held every rank up to and including Fire Chief. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for many years and has
served on several committee’s such as Training, Apparatus, Building and Grounds and many other’s. He also served as Delegate
or Alternate Delegate to the County and State Conventions.
He was very proud of his Family which includes several children.
Milton was a great at carpentry and whatever needed fixing. He also served as Auxiliary President which was responsible for kitchen operations
at bingo and other duties associated with that position.
He was also a Fireman’s Fireman. He has been on many of the large fires and emergency incidents in Silver Hill’s first due area, not to mention
just about anywhere in Prince George’s County and fire’s at the Pentagon.
Chief Thompson leaves a major gap in the history and daily operations at Silver Hill as well as within his family and friends, than you Milton …
