Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Inc.

We are very excited about the progress we are making at SHVFD&RS. The Apparatus Committee, after months of reviewing makes and models from several vendors, submitted two proposals to the Board of Directors. The Board made recommendation to the body and with their approval we have initiated the process to purchase an E-ONE Typhoon Pumper.

The E-ONE Typhoon® cab features a rugged design with superior ride and handling. The aluminum cab is built with heavy wall extrusions and 3/16″ plate for walls, floor, roof and doors for maximum durability. The Typhoon is available in five cab lengths with either a flat roof or one of four raised “vista” roof designs along with hundreds of options to meet your department’s needs. The Typhoon cab provides excellent visibility for driver and crew with its low profile dash, radial sweep wipers, one piece door glass and a reduced profile interior A/C system. Built to last, the Typhoon C-frame chassis has galvanized powder-coated rails and Geomet® coated hardware for corrosion resistance.

Allison EVS 300 or 4000 transmission
Meritor axles with up to 22, 800 front and 62,000 rear GVW rating
S-Cam brakes with ABS standard
Taper leaf spring front suspension standard; multi-leaf rear suspension
Seating for up to 10 personnel

The apparatuses committee also selected Horton as the vender for our new ambulance. We are having the unit built to meet Prince George’s County specifications. Our call load requires us to keep the best, most up to date (technologically speaking) fleet possible.

Come ride with us! We need more volunteers to answer the call. If you want to serve the community we can train you. No experience is needed. If you are already trained we are seeking to add to our EMS Officer staff. So, if you work for a private ambulance company and you need EMS Officer certification and experience to get to the next level on your job then come to Silver Hill. Come Join Us!
